 
NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care
This course is FREE on the Train to Gain contract
Level 2 will be suitable for you if you report to and take instructions from a boss or supervisor. Your job role will have some responsibility and may require you to work as part of a team.
At Level 2 you’ll develop a clear understanding of your specific role and responsibilities and you’ll be shown how you can help to create a safe, healthy environment for yourself and those you care for. The courses also cover equality, discrimination and stereotyping and you’ll see the day-to-day problems caused by prejudice within a care environment.

You will study four mandatory units which include communication and record keeping for the individuals you support in your setting; Health & Safety of yourself and individuals; Develop your own knowledge and practice and ensure your actions support the care, protection and well being of individuals. You will complete further optional units which are relevant to your work environment.
NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care
This programme is suitable for people who are in the care sector, who support individuals with their day-to-day requirements, support them with their physical and emotional needs and maintain their independence.
You will gain an NVQ 3 Award in Health & Social Care validated by EDI Plc. The following four core units of study will be undertaken: Promote effective communication for and about individuals Promote, monitor and maintain health, safety & security in the working environment. Reflect on and develop your practice, promote choice, well-being and the protection of all individuals.
Learning and assessment
You will be assessed at your place of work undertaking daily tasks relevant to the assessment criteria. You will also complete eight written assignments to build up a portfolio of underpinning evidence.
What can be achieved after the programme?
You can work in a hospital or residential setting. This course is also recognised as part of the entry requirement if you wish to pursue a course in nursing. You can progress onto the NVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care
