PTLLS is the required preparatory qualification for all teachers, tutors and trainers delivering publicly-funded teaching programmes in the Lifelong Learning Sector (i.e. Adult learning for ages 16+). It is the threshold qualification for new teachers who wish to teach unsupervised.

You must have the appropriate level of Literacy at a minimum of
Level 2 and be able to communicate clearly in assignments.

This course leads to further qualifications such as CTTLS and the Level 5 ‘Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector’ (DTLLS), Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) or Associate Teacher Learning and Skills (ATLS).

The qualification is made up of the following

Have an understanding of the responsibilities and boundaries of your own
role in relation to teaching/training;

Be able to identify and use appropriate teaching and learning approaches
for the subject you intend to teach/deliver;

Be able to demonstrate session planning skills;

Understand how to deliver inclusive sessions which motivate learners;

record keeping;
